Rory Smith has been playing bass for Blinding Light since the beginning. Sure, he left a few times temporarily, but he’s always gone back to the only life he’s really known. It was all fun and games in his twenties, but lately he wonders if there’s something more out there besides traveling show to show.
Kai Marshall has always been a huge fan of Blinding Light, but the real reason he goes to every show he can sneak into is to get a glimpse of their hot bass player. Everyone else worshiped the lead singer Easy Rian. When they found out, he was out and proud, and in a relationship with the new guitar player, many hearts were broken. But not his. His heart only beats for Rory, the white-blonde haired rock god that he can’t get out of his head.
Rory’s played the rockstar game for many years. Not one time in all those years has he met anyone who made him feel the way the cute guy off to the side with the haunting blue eyes does. He’s always kept his heart of lockdown, but maybe it’s time for a jailbreak. His dreams have faded, but they’re not completely gone.

Rory Smith has been the bass for the band Blinding Light since it began but he begins to feel that there is something missing in his life. When a food delivery arrives, Rory sees the delivery man and he feels an instant connection.
Kai Marshall has just turned twenty-one and he loves Blinding Light but has had a crush on Rory from the start. Kai has been helping his parents since his father’s business went into a nosedive. He does deliveries while attending college with a dream of becoming a web designer. Seeing the man, he has a strong attraction to was amazing and he is now the legal age to attend bars where the band plays.
When another delivery brings the two men together again Rory knows he wants it to become more. Inviting Kai to one of the band’s performances proved to him that Kai could be an important addition to his life. Since their meeting Rory has begun to write songs, something that he stopped after someone in his past hurt him. Now he is writing and can’t stop because he has found his muse, and the muse’s name is Kai.
Between work and school Kai’s life is full but he makes sure to make time to see the band and Rory. All the band members take a liking to Kai and welcome him with open arms whenever he goes to a performance, backstage and always on the guest list. The band has had no record company since they left the one, they had. They record their own music, book their own performances and although most of them are not huge venues they like not having to follow the studio’s orders, what to wear, how to act, where they must perform and when. Now they will be performing at the largest venue Rocktoberfest in front of thousands of people.
Unfortunately, the man from Rory’s life reappears and trouble is on the horizon. His notebook filled with his songs goes missing, their performance studio gets trashed, and the entire band keeps waiting for the other shoe to drop. Through all the trouble the band needs to be on top of their game for Rocktoberfest. Rory is in front of people every day, so he has kept the fact that he is gay out of the public eye only now he is falling for Kai and keeping that secret will be difficult.
Other members of the band are openly gay and even display their feelings on stage for the world to see. He misses Kai when he isn’t around, and they only kissed which was sizzling now Rory wonders what having sex would be like. There is an age difference of almost fifteen years, but I always say age is just a number.
The day finally arrives and unlike so many other bands Blinding Light uses trucks to move their equipment and uses hotels to stay so a fancy tour bus is out of the question, but they don’t mind.
Kai is there to watch the man he has fallen in love with on the huge stage while thousands jump and scream but all he sees is Rory. Who could ever imagine delivering food would change two men’s lives forever.
Another wonderful rock and roll story that I learn a lot from, I am not a huge rock and roll fan and still live in the fifties music world but that doesn’t stop me from loving these books. Watching these up-and-coming bands as they prepare for the biggest venue of their lives was a joy and I would highly recommend not missing out on any of the books in this amazing series.
This is a multi-author series, and each is a standalone with each author’s personal touch on the rock and roll world.
